Bacteriostatic Water for Research is a sterile, non-pyrogenic preparation of distilled water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. This specialized diluent is specifically formulated for the reconstitution of lyophilized peptides and proteins intended for laboratory evaluation. The inclusion of benzyl alcohol allows the solution to be entered multiple times using a sterile needle, as the preservative inhibits the growth of most potentially contaminating bacteria for up to 48 days after the initial puncture.
